It really struggled with the title of this image. I was playing with the obvious starting point of "Nurturing" when my insightful girlfriend suggested "Instincts." I extended that a little. Still, all the while, I couldn't help thinking about extinction and the power and politics of an image. When Sonia and I talked about it, she queried whether it could be both nurturing and extinction, My heart fell with the truth of it. I wrestled with using "Nurturing Until Extinction" (her words) as the title until I came back to my mission and my "positive only" approach. And so, I present "Maternal Instincts: Polar Bears" in Rock. From Sperry Beach, Nova Scotia."
Naturally, literally, this is an image in rock. It's part of a new rock series that I am just now formulating. I'm not sure what the series will look like but here's a sneak peek at a sample. Too weird?
Rounding out the weirdness is this "birth canal" image. In the Optimize program that I am taking and will soon be coaching, we talk about moving forward into growth or back into safety. You can't have growth without leaving your comfort zone. It's a choice that we constantly have to make if we want to be prepared to rock it!
